Police in Essex County New York raided a home that was suspected of being used to hold illegal poker games, but once inside the police found out this was just the tip of the Iceberg.
Once inside police found what can only be described as a very small casino equipped with slot machines, a Roulette table, a craps table, a separate poker room and a Blackjack table.
Police also found half a kilo of
cocaine that they suspect was sold openly to players at the tables.
?This is not the first time illegal gambling dens have been raided in the area but we have never seen anything like this before? one of the officers who assisted on the raid said.
Besides 5 people suspected of operating the illegal casino, police also arrested 7 others varying in age from 19 to 57. Those arrested for gambling illegally were released on bail of $200 each and will have to appear before a judge within 90 days, and could face sentencing of up to 6 months in jail and fines of up to $5,000.
Those arrested for running the illegal casino are still being held and as of Monday morning no bail had been set for them yet, but they were expected to be brought before a judge by the end of today.
