The government has announce they are going to be looking into whether or not online casinos and sportbooks sponsoring soccer clubs, is illegal under a law making it illegal to market gambling to minors.

Some are saying that because of the popularity of replica shirts with children, having an advertisement for casinos, sportsbooks and poker rooms should not be allowed, and should be considered targeting kids. Others are saying that it is not targeting kids, and if they make this illegal they must make all billboards and any other type of advertising that may be seen by children illegal. ?If this is going to be the law then all forms of advertising that may be seen by kids should be banned as well, if a child can not wear a shirt with a gambling logo on it why should they be allowed to ride on a bus with it? said a lawyer who disagrees with this interpretation of the law.

This move has some of the soccer clubs nervous, because in the last few years these sponsorships have brought in many millions of dollars for these clubs.

The law called the New Gambling Act, is set to go into effect next September, and is meant to help protect children from being targeted from online casinos.

Once the law goes into effect the penalties for this crime will increase dramatically.
